Power Like the Pro's
Something I see day after day are golfers just scooping and/or flicking at the golf ball with no real power behind it. It must be frustrating for these players, who start their downswing by 'throwing' all their power away. This is sometime known as 'casting' or perhaps 'coming over the top'.
It's a frustrating move because it drains so much power and consistency.
Below is a typical example of this with the player simply throwing his arms first to start his move at the ball, extending his wrist early and losing all the power generated from the backswing.

Below is what I like to see and I what would like you to try.
Stop at the top of your backswing and actually start your downswing with your hips driving and turning towards the target first, while just leaving your hands as they were at the top of your backswing. Then allow them to drop and swing through, once your hips have started to move.

At first your results may be quite average but with a little practice you will be amazed just how much straighter and further you can hit it with less effort than before.
